Watkins/MLK Choir rehearsal begins Nov. 17

Singers sought

The Richmond County Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Foundation is looking for singers to join its community choir to help celebrate the King holiday weekend.

The J.C. Watkins/Martin Luther King Jr. Choir will start rehearsal Monday, Nov. 17, at the Leak Street Education and Cultural Center at 7 p.m.

The choir will perform during MLK weekend on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at an ecumenical service, and at the popular luncheon on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, the official holiday.

Dr. Brooksie Harrington of Fayetteville will return this year as choir director.

Everyone is welcome to join the choir, regardless of race, color or creed. Prior experience in a choir is not necessary to participate.
