First-responders were called to the intersection of Lee and Greene streets at 2:33 p.m. Personnel with the Rockingham Police Department, Rockingham Fire Department and FirstHealth EMS arrived to find a passenger from a red Nissan pick-up truck complaining of back and neck pain.

Statements obtained from the scene indicated the truck had been traveling down the hill on Lee Street approaching the former Economy Auto Supply building when a Hyunda sedan, traveling west on Greene Street, proceeded from a stop at the corner and into the oncoming traffic. The Hyundai driver told authorities he thought the intersection was a four-way stop and had expected the truck to brake.

The truck suffered damage to its right front end while the Hyundai was damaged on its left front.

A detailed police report was not yet complete. As of 3:05 p.m. Sunday, it is unknown if either driver was cited in the incident.
