The Beach Boys to perform Nov. 5 at the Cole

HAMLET — Original Beach Boy Mike Love will be joined by long-time member Bruce Johnston as The Beach Boys take the stage at the Cole Auditorium on Nov. 5 for the second show of the 2014-15 DeWitt Performing Arts Series.

Love and Johnston, along with Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Jeffery Foskett and Scott Totten, continue the legacy of the iconic American band. This concert will not feature Brian Wilson, Al Jardine or David Marks.

A variety of interaction is planned for the Cole Auditorium’s Facebook fans leading up to the Nov. 5 show, including users being asked to share their favorite Beach Boys song or favorite memories attached to a Beach Boys song.

The Beach Boys, who have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, have performed more shows than any other major rock group – having not taken a summer off since the 1960s. Often referred to as “America’s Band,” the group has had more than 80 songs chart worldwide, including 36 Top 40 hits and four number ones. Their number one records were “I Get Around” (1964), “Help Me Rhonda” (1965), “Good Vibrations” (1966) and “Kokomo” (1988).

Other hit songs recorded by the group included “Surfin’, USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Be True To Your School,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Barbara Ann,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Peggy Sue” and “Little Deuce Coupe.”

The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Music Hall of Fame in 1988. Ten years later, they were selected for the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and in 2001, the group received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Tickets to The Beach Boys’ show at the Cole are $50 a piece. Season tickets for the DeWitt Performing Arts Series, which includes admission to The Beach Boys and four other shows, are as low as $115.
