Members of the Prison Emergency Response Team from Morrison Correctional Institution and local law enforcement officers responded Thursday morning to Hamlet in the search for two convicts on the run since their escape on Nov. 16.
The search continues for Jacob Pilkington, 20, and Frankie Noles, 22.
“Our officers are continuing to follow any leads we receive,” Keith Acre, of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s communications office, told the Post in an email Thursday afternoon. “To this point, we have not received any evidence to indicate the inmates are still in the area around the prison. We have responded to the Hamlet area today based on reported citizen sightings. So far, that has not resulted in anything, but we continue to actively search and follow any leads that come from any location.”
Pilkington was serving sentences at the Hoffman facility, on the minimum security side, for felony breaking and entering and other charges. His projected release date was November 2015. Noles was serving sentences for felony breaking and entering and other charges. His projected release date was December 2015.
Anyone with information about either man is asked to call local law enforcement or the prison at 910-281-3161.
