Sunday at Rockingham Dragway where riders from seven states and Aruba reached the winners’ circle in the final event in the 2014 Mickey Thompson Performance MIRock Superbike Series.
Aruba’s Terence Angela got the biggest prize when he upset two-time and reigning series champion Joey Gladstone of Townsend, Del., in the final round of Orient Express Pro Street, but there was plenty of hardware to go around in the two-day bike-fest.
Veteran Rickey Gadson of Hammonton, N.J., not to be confused with veteran Richard Gadson of Louisburg, N.C., won DME Real Street. Then, not to be outdone, the other Gadson won in Louis Concrete 4.60.
As usual, Jeremy Teasley of Columbus, Ohio, who has won more MIRock races at Rockingham than any other rider, managed to find his way to the winners’ circle – although it wasn’t easy. It took a .018 of a second starting line advantage to make his 5.637 at 126.60 mph a winner in the FBR Shop 5.60 final over Daniel Joyce’s slightly quicker 5.620 at 121.43 mph. Teasley subsequently had a chance to double-up, but he fell short in the Real Street final.
The weekend’s only double winner, in fact, was Brian Canoles of Berkeley Springs, W. Va., who won a Pro ET title Sunday and the Pro ET Tournament of Champions runoff. Additional ET winners were Derek Crawford of Charlottesville, Va., and MIRock mainstay Boo Brown of Potomac Falls, Va., won the Brocks Performance Street ET Tournament of Champions
Other winners were Ron Arnold of Bowling Green, Ky. (Trac King Top Sportsman), Dustin Lee of Morristown, Tenn. (9.50 Index) and Clay Davies of Petersburg, Va. (Cycle Connection Crazy 8s).
