Community theater holding auditions for one-woman show

Richmond Community Theatre is auditioning for the third show in our season, “The Lady with all the Answers.”  Since it is a one woman show, Director Shelly Walker wants to give the lucky woman who is cast in the part plenty of time to learn this approximately 30-page script long before rehearsals and performances begin.
RCTAuditions will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 and Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the theater, located at 109 E. Washington St.  Auditions will be cold readings from the script. The character needed is one woman between the ages of 40 to 60 who could play “Ann Landers.” Actresses can show up at the designated time and location or RSVP via Facebook.
Since it’s a one-woman show, rehearsal and performance attendance will of course be very important.

The Lady with All the Answers,” written by David Rambo, is a one-actor play about advice columnist Ann Landers.

“An Ann Landers column had heart, humor and a little sex,” Rambo wrote on his website. “That’s what I wanted my play about her to be.”

“Ann Landers at her peak had over 70 million readers. She informed and chronicled the rapidly changing society in the second half of the 20th century. Although I read her growing up (her column was always the hot part of The Pottstown Mercury), it was when the news broke of her divorce in 1975 that I realized how connected I felt to her. I was dealing with the shock of my parents divorce at the time. Mom and Dad? And now, Ann Landers? Was nothing sacred?”

See the Richmond Community Theatre Facebook page or website for specific show dates and times.

Auditions for the second play of the three-show season, “Always a Bridesmaid,”  will be held at the beginning of December.
