Softball tourney benefits Cheryl Brown

ELLERBE — Members of the Head 2 Toe squad was crowned champion of a day-long, four-team, five-game benefit tournament on Saturday in Ellerbe.

The tournament began as a round-robin and then went to single elimination.

Proceeds from the tournament were directed to the family of Freddy and Cheryl Brown. Cheryl recently suffered a stroke. Concessions were sold to also benefit the family.

The winning team included, top row, left to right: Branson Conyers, Jeffery Moss, Will Webb, Brad Beaver, Greg Hunt and Robert Mintz. Bottom row, left to right: Lyndsey Moss, Caroline Smith, Leslie Davis and Kristin Davis Carter. Not pictured are Jeff Ingram and Bennett Gardner.
