RCC club members collecting gifts for less fortunate

The Human Services Technology Club at Richmond Community College is taking part in Operation Christmas Child this year, collecting items to be given to less fortunate children during the holiday season.

HSAnyone wishing to participate in the fundraiser is asked to choose whether to sponsor a boy or girl between the ages of 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. Gifts should be placed in an average sized shoe box and dropped off in Room 121 of the Conder building on RCC’s main campus in Hamlet, along with a $7 donation to cover delivery costs. The deadline for drop-offs is Nov. 18.

Gift ideas include school supplies, non-liquid hygiene supplies, clothes, accessories and toys that children will immediately embrace such as dolls, toy cars, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls and toys that light up and make noise.

Do not include used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; or breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; or aerosol cans.
