ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mr. Ronald Stanley Christie, 50, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 at Hospice Haven surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 15, 1964 in Richmond County, a son of Berdell Alexander Christie and the late Frank Christie.

Ronald was a very active member of Temple Baptist Church, where he was the treasurer for the church and Temple Christian School. He was employed with Sealed Air Corporation. Ronald loved sports, especially Atlanta Braves baseball, Liberty University baseball, New York Jets football, and University of Alabama football. He had a love for statistics, and enjoyed traveling, with Pennsylvania being his favorite.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Byrd and Rev. Keith Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Brenda Ward Christie; his mother, Berdell Christie; his children, Charlie Barmer, Jr., Stanley Rafael Christie, and Mellissa Sue Short; a brother, Mark Christie and wife Renee of Lexington; extended family, Junior Ward and girlfriend Betsy, Mary Ward and friend Scott, and Rodney Ward; nieces and nephews, Ryan Christie and fiancé Kelsey of Tampa, Fla., Tiffany Reynolds and husband Justin of New Bern, Samuel Ward, Kristen Ward, and Amanda Ward; great niece, Madison; and best friend, Norman Odom.
Ronald had a special relationship with his doctor, Dr. Charles Kuzma in Pinehurst and Rev. Keith Miller has been a dear friend and mentor, especially during Ronald’s illness.

Memorials may be made to Temple Christian School, 165 Airport Road, Rockingham, NC 28379 or Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N., Rockingham, NC 28379.
