Staff report
Republican Tom McInnis and supporters of his effort to unseat Democratic opponent Gene McLaurin for the District 25 seat in the state Senate hope to raise awareness for the area’s homeless.
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, McInnis will host a beach music concert and dance at the Rockingham National Guard Armory. Music begins at 7 p.m. from Jim Quick and The Coastline Band, recognized as a premier beach band in the south. Doors open at 6 p.m. with free hot dogs and drinks while they last.
This is a family-friendly event and no alcohol will be served or allowed.
Cost of admission is $5 per person or two cans of non-perishable food — all of which will be donated to the Place of Grace tent ministry operated by New Life Church on Airport Road in East Rockingham.
“This will be a fun-filled evening with music, dancing and food while we support our homeless citizens in our area,” McInnis said.
Tickets can be purchased by making a donation of $5 per ticket on the McInnis for State Senate Facebook page or at the door. Those wishing to attend can bring their two canned good items to the door.
