Hudson, Packer to speak at campaign event

Billy Packer, the former assistant coach of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons basketball team and color analyst for college basketball, will be speaking at a campaign event for the District 25 Senate seat.

The event is set for Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rotary Lodge at Hinson Lake, Rockingham.

Packer began his career as a color analyst for television coverage of college basketball. He worked for NBC and CBS, where he covered every NCAA Men’s Division I basketball championship from 1975 to 2008. He currently spends his time operating several real estate and business ventures, including the famed Old Beau Golf Club near Roaring Gap in Alleghany County.

Congressman Richard Hudson of the 8th District of North Carolina will also be speaking at the event.

McInnis is a Republican challenger for the state senate seat against Democratic incumbent Sen. Gene McLaurin.
