CORDOVA — Firefighters responded to a working structure Wednesday just before 2:30 p.m. to a two-story home in
Cordova at the corner of Center and China streets.
No injuries to personnel were reported. It was not known if the occupant of the home was home at the time the fire started. However, an emergency call for rescue personnel to respond to the area came about an hour later when it was learned the homeowner was experiencing chest pain.
The extent of the damage to the structure was not immediately available.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. It was unclear what other fire departments were on scene, as members of the media were restricted access from the perimeter of fire trucks and other emergency vehicles on scene.
