Two individuals were killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Hoffman.
The operator and passenger, Ohio residents Michael Cleary and his wife, Beverly Cleary, 64 and 62, respectively, were traveling on Beaverdam Church Road near Frank Haigler Road at approximately 2:24 p.m. when the crash occurred. The motorcycle left the roadway and hit a tree. It was reported that both victims were in cardiac arrest immediately following the crash.
Hoffman Fire and Rescue, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, FirstHealth EMS and North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
