ROCKINGHAM — You’re in the garden weeding, perhaps, or in the driveway washing your car. Suddenly, you notice you’re sweating twice as much and getting half the work done in the same amount of time.
Yes, it’s that hot outside in the Sandhills region. The CommunityOne Bank sign in downtown Rockingham indicated it reached 103 degrees at about 2:30 p.m. today. Maybe not, but baby, it sure is hot outside.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid- to high 90s with a heat index of 103 degrees Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday through Saturday, and temperatures are expected to hover at a high of 91 by Friday.
