Served Hoffman, Marston communities for more than 40 years
Staff report
The 28 active members of Hoffman Fire and Rescue will gather for a brief ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, to honor one of their own.
The Marston Station will be dedicated to former Chief Ray Robbins Jr., who died April 16, 2013, at the age of 58. The building is located at 2401 U.S. Highway 1 North in Hoffman.
“He was instrumental in getting the (Marston station) built,” said current Chief Frank McKay.
Robbins was a charter member of the Hoffman Rescue Squad beginning in 1973 and served as chief of the merged Hoffman Fire and Rescue beginning in 1984. Combined, the fire and rescue unit responds to approximately 200 calls each year.
Robbins served the Hoffman and Marston communities for more than 40 years.
McKay said members of Robbins’ family, including his wife of 37 years, Nancy Sherrill Robbins, have been invited to attend.
