CHERAW, S.C. — Not only will this year’s National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., provide youngsters and their parents with important information from the town of Cheraw’s police and fire officials, those in attendance will have a chance to win a flat screen television and a gaming system.
Cheraw Police Chief Keith Thomas and town council member Jacqueline Ellerbe-Shannon have been preparing for this year’s events for weeks, which will be held at Centennial Park, on the corner of Market and Second Streets.
Thomas said to register to win the 40-inch flat screen TV, you must be 18 and older, and for the X-Box One gaming system, you must be 17 and under to win. With both prizes, you must be present to win. At the event, there will be music, a bounce house, kids’ activities, give-aways, and child fingerprint DNA kits. Pathfinders United will also have food items for sale. In the event of rain, the evening activities will be moved to the Cheraw Community Center, at the corner of Second and Powe streets.
This coordinated event is designed to generate support for local anti-crime programs and unite Cheraw’s neighborhoods, law enforcement agencies, and local public safety officials in the awareness and fight against crime.
