Hamlet police make arrest in home, store burglaries

The Hamlet Police Department has arrested a suspected in connection with two break-ins that occurred over the past two weeks in Hamlet.

Police said Jason West, 43, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of larceny. West is suspected of breaking into a home on Jefferson Street and stealing a flatscreen television. Police believe West also broke into a Hamlet Avenue business and stole several items.

All the items that were stolen were recovered and returned to the owners, a Hamlet Police Department news release indicated.

West was held on a $10,000 secured bond and placed in the Richmond County Detention Center.
