It’s all about the wow factor.
The 15th biannual Business/Industry Expo and Job Fair will open its doors at noon Thursday at the Cheraw (S.C.) Community Center.
Sponsored by the Greater Cheraw Chamber of Commerce, Chesterfield General Hospital and the town of Cheraw, the event has 22 businesses that have committed to being at the event. While the focus of the event is not on matching job seekers with current vacancies, it can happen.
“The idea of the job fair is if they specifically find somebody that they like,” said Chamber representative Rebecca Prevatte. “It’s not handout out applications so much as they are seeing who approaches them.”
In other words, come prepared and with an open mind.
The five-hour event will include representatives in communications, home furnishings, transportation, restaurants, home improvements, medical service, business service, employment and gift shops. There is no cost to attend.
Companies registered to participate include Jones Furniture, Wannamaker Drugs, Schaeffler, Chesterfield General Hospital, Northeast Technical Community College, Highland, Palmetto Brick, CCSD, SCWorks, Coker College, Stephan Fowler, CCEconDev, Hospice of Chesterfield County, Kiwanis Club, First Citizens, Mahala Reese, Stanley Tools, Agape Hospice, CHESCO Services, Carolina Bank and WCRE 93.9 FM.
