ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mrs. Adele Jones Combs, 84, of Rockingham passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2104 at the home of her daughter in Union Grove. She was born April 23, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of the late Henry and Adele P. Jones.
Adele graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte and dedicated her life to the profession until the age of 78, but continued to serve and care for others until her death. She was actively involved in St. James Catholic Church and enjoyed other civic and social activities with her many treasured friends.
She is survived by her children, Teresa C. Wallace (Dan), Tim M. Combs (Sheila), Patti C. Campbell (Charles), and Anita C. Thomson (Chris); two grandsons, Andrew and Cole Thomson; and two brothers, Henry Robert Jones (Pat) and Charles Ray Jones (Hilda).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Combs, and a brother, Richard Lawrence Jones.
A Funeral Mass for Christian Burial will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church in Hamlet with Father Jean Pierre Swamunu Lhoposo and Father Soosai Arokiadass officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
