City men arrested for stolen truck, drugs

Two Rockingham men were found in possession of a stolen truck and arrested Tuesday at Walmart in Rockingham.

City police officers arrested James Russell Hash, 33, and John Richard Patrick, 40, both of whom appeared before a Richmond County magistrate. Hash was ordered held on $5,000 secured bond and held on $20,000 secured bond.

The truck had been stolen the week before from Jacob’s Auto Sales, police said. Both men were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, police found methamphetamine in the passenger floor board. In addition, several other items were found throughout the vehicle, including pseudo ephedrine tablets, lithium batteries, butane fluid, syringes and many other items.

In addition to the stolen vehicle charges, Hash was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth precursors and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men are scheduled to appear on Sept. 4. in Richmond County District Court.
