Teens accused of stealing firearms

Two young Rockingham men are accused of stealing three guns on June 17 after forcing their way into a Sandhills Road home.

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies arrested David Jesse Powell, 17, and Dillon Dontae Brayboy, 18, and charged each of them with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and larceny of a firearm. The two were apprehended on June 19.

Both men were confined to Richmond County Jail on $25,000 secure bond.

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hamlet man on June 27 on possession of a stolen firearm.

Steven Lamont Tinley, 42, is being held at Richmond County Jail on a $15,000 secure bond.

Police: Man arrested for selling prescription drugs

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies arrested an East Rockingham man on June 27 for allegedly selling Methadone pills.

Steve Spencer Myers, 53, of Airport Road, was charged with selling a Scheduled II controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute and maintaining a home for a controlled substance.

He is confined at Richmond County Jail on a $10,000 secure bond.

R’ham man held on $100,000 bond

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Rockingham man and charged him with a host of drug-related offenses.

James Davis Downer Jr., 56, was arrested June 30 and charged with trafficking opium, selling and delivering a Schedule III controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute.

Downer is being held at Richmond County Jail on a secure $100,000 bond.

Center Street resident charged with selling pills

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Rockingham man on June 30 in connection with a prescription pill-selling operation.

Jimmy Edward Chavis Jr. is being held on a $5,000 secure bond at Richmond County Jail. He was charged with selling and delivering a Schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute.

Ellerbe man held on drug charges

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies on June 30 arrested an Ellerbe man for selling prescription pills.

Michael Christopher Parsons, 55, of Mill Street, was charged with selling a Schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute.

He is being held at Richmond County Jail on a $5,000 secure bond.
