The Richmond Raiders Marching Band, all five dozen members, has hopes of getting bigger in 2014 and beyond.

In anticipation of accommodating a larger crew, the Band Fans boosters has set a fundraising goal sufficient for a new band truck to haul the instruments and accessories from performance to performance.

Band Fans Randy Stubbs and Gus Bellamy, along with Mike Ward, band director, are in the process of recruiting sponsors that will double as advertisers in the 2014 Raiders football program that is available for sale at each home football game.

The 2013 program included 40 pages of content and ad spots in between two color, glossy covers. In its pages, content included full rosters of the varsity and junior varsity football squads, team photos, group photos by position and a band roster.

The 2014 football program will include a photo of the Raiders Marching Band.

The program also includes letters of support from the superintendent, Richmond Senior Principal Keith McKenzie and head football coach Paul Hoggard.

Business owners interested in supporting the Raiders Marching Band  through corporate sponsorship or advertising should contact Stubbs at 910-995-8544 or by email at saddlecreek2006@yahoo.com.

The Raiders Marching Band, which last performed June 13 for Richmond Senior High School’s 41st annual commencement exercise at Raider Stadium, is scheduled to perform in at least 18 football games, parades and competitions through Dec. 31 — not including any playoff games.

The band begins its 2014 schedule on July 21 as the drumlin and color guard hold minicamps from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 21 through July 25.
