Staff report
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin wants to ensure Richmond County residents are as prepared as can be for Tropical Storm Arthur, which could reach the Carolinas sometime Thursday as a hurricane.
Goodwin encouraged residents to visit now his agency’s HurriClaims Center website to know in advance of how to prepare for such a storm.
The Fort Myers News-Press reported the first tropical storm of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane season formed earlier today about 95 miles southeast of Cape Canaveral, Fla.
According to the report, “The depression is expected to turn northwestward, followed by a northern turn Wednesday, according to the hurricane center.
By then, Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to pass east of northeastern Florida by Wednesday night and it’s on track to near the Carolinas by Thursday night.”
