Obituary: Vicky Singleton

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mrs. Vicky Johnson Singleton, 65, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Hospice Haven.

She was born July 29, 1948 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late William Claude Johnson and Dorothy Easter Johnson.

Mrs. Singleton was a member of the Cameronian Presbyterian Church, where she was currently serving as an Elder. She was retired from the Department of Social Services, where she was a Supervisor. She was a member of the Women of the Church, participated in the monthly Church Breakfast and monthly Fellowship Meal. Mrs. Singleton was a member of the Wild Wild Women Card Club and, in early years, was active in the Civil Air Patrol. She loved to sew and did alterations for her friends. She loved being at the beach. 

Mrs. Singelton is survived by her husband, David Singelton; daughters, Sharon Lear Willoughby and husband Jay, of Willard, and Lori Singleton of Rockingham; a son, David Lear and wife Joanie, of Rockingham; grandchildren, Cooper Blansett, Craven Blansett, Jordan Lear, Branson Lear, Leah Hogan and Jada Serrano; and a brother, Larry Johnson and wife Mary Jane, of Rockingham. Mrs. Singelton was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Monday, June 16 at Cameronian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wyatt Coley officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
