Man, woman killed, one hospitalized in Sunday collision

A Hamlet man and business owner and a Charlotte woman were killed in a Sunday head-on collision along U.S. Route 74 on the eastern edge of Richmond County near Scotland County.

police-line-do-not-cross-15136252The North Carolina Highway Patrol said William Kirby Bledsoe, 77, and Caitlyn Taylor Patton, 25, were killed when Bledsoe’s truck struck a sedan in which Patton was a passenger at about 3 a.m.

Patton was riding in the front seat at the time of the crash, according to the accident report.

Bledsoe was owner of Bill’s Backhoe Service.
