Hamlet police seek help in locating assault suspect

Investigators with the Hamlet Police Department are seeking the public’s help in locating one of two suspects wanted in connection with an alleged assault that occurred May 31.

Police are seeking Mortquan Mitchell, 31, of Hamlet, in the beating of Charlie Morrison, 33, of Hamlet. On May 31, Morrison was transported to Charlotte Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of injuries received in the alleged assault.

Shelton Griffin, 35, of Hamlet, was arrested June 5 in Hamlet by officers with the Hamlet Police Department and charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury. Griffin is currently being held at Richmond County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
