Filing period open for Soil & Water Conservation District candidates

The filing period for candidates for supervisor for the Richmond County Soil and Water Conservation District is now open. Candidates can file for office until noon on Monday, July 7. The filing fee is $5 per candidate.

election2014logoThe board is comprised of three elected members and two appointed individuals. Each elected term is for four years. This year, there are two seats open — those currently held by Jed Lambeth and Jared Gainey. Gainey was appointed to the board to fill an unexpired term. Jeff Joyner, also elected, is chairman and is not up for re-election this year.

The two appointed positions are currently occupied by Patricia Dial and Cecil Robinson.

The division provides programs, technical services and educational outreach promoting voluntary natural resource management and conservation on the private lands of North Carolina through a non-regulatory, incentive-driven approach. 

The election for Soil and Water Conservation District supervisor is held on the same day as the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
