Letter: Not surprised House of Fish to close

To the editor:

I was not surprised when I heard about the House of Fish on Broad Avenue closing because of a lack of support from public officials in Rockingham and Richmond County.

Admittedly, the restaurant was in a terrible location, but if the town officials had helped at all they may have saved a few jobs in Richmond County. Instead,  they are going to pour a fortune into a restaurant in the DEAD ZONE, up town.

If I had been the restaurant owner I would have bought an old bread truck and painted my restaurant name on it and parked it right in front of the strip mall.

Who will be footing the bills for this new restaurant across from Discovery Place KIDS? Guess: The parents of every school student in Richmond County. And, if the restaurant fails, taxpayers will be called on for support.

If that restaurant succeeds where will the income that is generated go? After 5 p.m. every day, most of it will be digitally transferred to Charlotte, and THOSE dollars will never come back to benefit Richmond County.
