HAMLET — Pee Dee Electric Membership Cooperative has shown its support of Richmond Community College’s annual Energy Venture Camp through a $500 donation. Director of Engineering and Operations Mark Rhyne made the check presentation to RCC President Dr. Dale McInnis.

Energy Venture is a weeklong summer camp for rising sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students that involves hands-on science experiments and projects involving electricity and exposes them to careers in the utility industry.

The first of two camps this summer will be held July 27-30 on RCC’s main campus in Hamlet. The second camp session will be offered Aug. 3-6 at the Honeycutt Center in Laurinburg.

Cost of camp is $100, which includes lunch each day and a camp T-shirt. Camp is held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
