All-inclusive welding course at RCC

RCC_50th_logo_horizontalHAMLET — A 12-week class covering all the basics of welding will be offered at Richmond Community College this fall.

Randy Cox will teach the class, and says it will offer something for everyone.

“Those who have never welded before will be able to learn all of the basics during the class, and I also have several projects that will challenge those who already weld regularly,” Cox said. “It’s a very good class that will allow individuals at all levels to brush up on their skills.”

The class will begin with the basics of stick welding before moving to mig welding, tig welding, torch cutting and plasma cutting.

“We’ll start working with basic metals and by the end of the class be doing some very challenging vertical and horizontal welding,” Cox said.

Cost of the class, which will be held at the Forte building on RCC’s main campus from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday thru Thursday, is $180. Class begins Sept. 8 and runs through Dec. 18.
